Please see
the Unity Ceremonies page under Creating Your Ceremony if you are
looking for ideas to incorporate Handfasting into a wedding
ceremony. This page is for couples who want their entire ceremony
to be a Handfasting (no license or legal standing) or a Handfasting
Wedding (with license and
legal).

A true
handfasting is a promised commitment for a year and a day. Because
there is no license, it is not a marriage and has no legal standing
in NY. I have however officiated Handfasting Wedding Ceremonies
with a marriage license. These do have legal standing as they meet
the State requirements. An example of a Handfasting
Marriage Ceremony can be found in the Reserved for Booked Couples
section
Please note-in this ceremony I tie 2 hands. A 4 foot long cord is required. In a ceremony where all 4 hands are tied, the cord should be 8 ft long.
